Gavin Butler || Anorexia || Taken

As far back as Gavin could remember, he’d had an obssesive need to control every aspect of his life. He figured there were worse traits to have, other than just wanting to be in control all the time, and typically people seemed to think the same thing. His parents and sisters had been relatively supportive of it all, giving him space when he needed it to make decisions on his own. But then the first Blackout tour came along, and the tight control he enjoyed on his life was pulled out from under him. Suddenly, as a boy who was so dependent on his parents, being on tour was weird, decisions were made about him without his consent. It started with taking away his acoustic sets, and only escalated from there. What to wear, who to talk to, when to return to the bus, everything in his life, was controlled by management, not by him. And then there was the beginning of the uncontrollable feelings, feelings of hatred. Gavin had to find a new form of control, something to control he knew people couldn’t take away from him. Gavin found hunger, Which was how he ended up here, in-patient therapy, underweight, out of control, and without the people who meant the most to him. The smell of sick and the painful burning in his throat being the only things to comfort the young lad.
